Providing Impact and Results for Members

The Massachusetts Affordable Reliable Electricity Alliance (Mass AREA) is an entrepreneurial, member-driven organization working to fundamentally change the electricity status quo so the Commonwealth has a bright future.

We are about action, overhaul, and results.  Complacency has brought Massachusetts to the brink of rolling blackouts and historically high electricity prices.  This impedes job creation and imposes a regressive tax that especially hurts the poor and less fortunate.  Unless we act soon, Massachusetts will have the electricity infrastructure of an underdeveloped country. 

A bold, new public policy paradigm must be formed in order to increase the supply of electricity produced and distributed in Massachusetts.  As such, Mass AREA will confront NIMBY-ism and other special interest obstructionism that harms the greater good of the Commonwealth, and which has in good part brought us to the current state of affairs.

What distinguishes Mass AREA?

Member Driven 
We emphasize a real world, as opposed to an “ivory tower” approach to solving problems.  Our members understand what needs to be done to improve the Commonwealth’s electricity situation because they build, operate, consume, and distribute electricity.  While our policy focus is strictly on electricity, our members are from a broad array of groups across the political and economic spectrum involved in electricity issues.

Unique Networking Opportunities
Mass AREA has regular and ongoing public and private forums where members can interact with one another and find ways to work together to push agenda items.  Our resources are focused on creating and expanding member-development forums, rather than building a large staff.

Aggressive Marketing
The best policy solutions are worthless if they are not effectively marketed.  Mass AREA supports its members through regular and relentless communications campaigns to showcase our members’ solutions in the press.
